WATCH: Russ on Morning Joe

By Sam Schoenburg   ·   April 16, 2012

Russ appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” today to discuss his new book, "While America Sleeps," and his views of the state of American foreign policy.

Russ also spoke about the Tax Day vote on the Buffett Rule scheduled in the Senate:

“I think the Buffett Rule is a very important thing not only for tax fairness, so that everybody feels that it’s a fair system. I think that it allows us, if people think there’s a fair share being paid, to give tax breaks sometimes…targeted at the right time…My belief is [the Buffett Rule] is more symbolic. The real thing [to do] is repealing the Bush tax cuts, for fiscal reasons, not for symbolic reasons.”

Progressives United has joined with CREDO Action to push Democratic leaders to go beyond the Buffett Rule by ending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, and by reforming the corporate tax code to ensure big corporations pay their fair share. You can check out our previous blog post about that effort.
